Holly Houlton 

Holly Houlton is a photographer and writer originally from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. 
She is currently studying and based in the West Midlands, completing her final and fourth year on a BA (Hons) Photography course at Coventry University. 
The last academic year she spent based in Madrid, learning her third year of study at Universidad de Europea Madrid for an Erasmus year as a sandwich year of her degree.

Houlton’s work mainly explores the subjects of people and place; with a particular interest in the effects they have on one another in relation to experience and time. 

Using a personal approach, themes of intimacy, relationship and self-reflection are applied to depict and interpret the environments surrounding her. This is realised in a variety of mediums including photography, moving image, sound and spoken or written word. Specific attention to detail and light attempts to draw out the perhaps otherwise unseen and stimulate emotive contemplation.

Alongside interpreting the world around her through a lens, she is also a passionate writer of photography in both the journalistic and academic form. Houlton regularly contributes to and has been published by numerous established magazines within the field; she is also a listed author for Professional Photo Magazine.

Beside taking part in exhibitions and getting involved with publications as shown on the right-hand side, Houlton also volunteers for art galleries or festivals where possible including the Eastside Projects contemporary art gallery in Birmingham and the Coventry Biennial of Contemporary Art festival 2019.
